Aircell® coaxial cables – flexible, low-loss and versatile

The Aircell® series from SSB-Electronic has been established for many years as a reliable range of coaxial cables for a wide variety of applications in radio communications, telecommunications, antenna systems, test and measurement, and RF technology. Combining low attenuation, high flexibility and a robust construction, Aircell® coaxial cables are ideally suited for both fixed installations and applications requiring tight bending radii and easy cable routing.

With Aircell® 5 and Aircell® 7, SSB-Electronic offers two proven cable types designed for reliable signal transmission and long-term operational reliability. Both cables feature a 50-ohm characteristic impedance, high-quality copper conductors and a multi-layer shielding design to minimise interference. A low-loss PE-LLC dielectric with a high gas content ensures excellent attenuation performance and outstanding long-term stability.

Both Aircell® coaxial cables are flame-retardant according to UN/ECE-R 118. This regulation specifies fire performance requirements for materials and components used in passenger buses, including city buses and coaches. As a result, Aircell® coaxial cables are particularly well suited for RF and communication applications in bus manufacturing and in other projects where components compliant with UN/ECE-R 118 are required.

Aircell® Heatex® – coaxial cables for enhanced fire protection requirements

With Aircell® 5 Heatex® and Aircell® 7 Heatex®, SSB-Electronic offers halogen-free coaxial cables for applications with enhanced fire protection requirements. Based on the proven RF performance of the Aircell® series, the Heatex® variants feature a halogen-free, flame-retardant and low-smoke jacket. This significantly limits flame propagation while reducing smoke generation and the release of corrosive gases in the event of a fire.

Aircell® 5 Heatex® and Aircell® 7 Heatex® achieve Euroclass Cca according to EN 50575, making them suitable for permanent installation in buildings with increased fire safety requirements. In addition, both cables are certified according to EN 45545-2, requirement sets R15 and R16, for indoor and outdoor use in railway vehicles. The Heatex® variants are LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), UV-resistant and tested in accordance with European standards for flame retardancy, smoke emission and smoke toxicity.

While Aircell® 5 Heatex® offers a compact 5 mm outer diameter and supports frequencies up to 10 GHz, Aircell® 7 Heatex® features a larger conductor design for even lower attenuation and exceptional flexibility thanks to its 19-strand centre conductor. Both cables combine outstanding RF performance with modern fire protection requirements, making them ideal for building installations, railway applications and other professional communication and RF systems.
